Eddie Bingham

Meet Eddie Bingham. He was born in Terry County, Texas, and presently lives in Meadow, Texas.  Eddie and his wife, Peggy, married in 1952 and have four children. These children are grown and married with kids of their own.  The Binghams’ have a total of 20 grandchildren. Eddie and Peggy attend the First Baptist Church in Meadow where Eddie serves as deacon. His hobbies are fishing, skiing and traveling.

He is a second generation farmer who farms on the same land his grandfather, Noah Bell, established in 1901 as a ranch. He began to farm in 1951 and started to organically produce in 1992. Eddie has 920 organic acres in production. This highly pampered acreage nurtures his organic cotton. His other crops consist of black-eyed peas, grain sorghum, guar, peanuts, sesame, soybeans, sunflowers and wheat.

Eddie organically produces cotton for two reasons (1) organic methods provide a safer environment and (2) the organic cotton profit margins are higher than that of conventional cotton. Eddie’s reward for producing organically is the clean and safe environment it provides and the association with the other organic producers partnered with Texas Organic Cotton Marketing Cooperative (TOCMC).
