Mark Wilkes

Meet Mark Wilkes. He was born in Lubbock, Texas. He lives and farms in Meadow, Texas. Mark is a member of the board of directors of Texas Organic Cotton Marketing Cooperative (TOCMC).  He married Stacey in 1989 and they have three boys and two girls. He and his family attend the First Baptist Church in Sundown, Texas. Mark’s hobbies are cooking and hunting.

He is a second generation farmer who follows in his father’s footsteps. In the year of 1990, Mark began to prepare the soil for organic use. He now works 3,400 acres of land with 2,400 of these acres dedicated to growing organic cotton. His other crops consist of black-eyed peas, guar, peanuts and wheat.

Mark has a sense of humor that just won’t quit. When he was asked the question, what would the public find most interesting about you he replied, “That I have long nose hairs.” He is one unique individual.
